When I discovered the Foodie Penpals program on The Lean Green Bean, I was super excited – food! new food! someone picking food for me! me sending food! – yes, very excited! I received my package wrapped up in cute pink princess wrapping paper, which my son absolutely adored and insisted on carrying home for me.

Here’s my big boy carrying his lovely pink package!

My penpal was Deborah from Gourmet Mom, a fellow Canadian blogger who lives in a city in Ontario – not far from where I grew up!

Mama, I got this! What’s in here? Food?

You said there’s food in here?? I can’t wait!! Yum, yum, yum!

Sometimes I shock myself when I realise that I have a 7 year old, or that she’s turning 8 in a couple of months, or the fact that I’m turning 30 in January… This is Chanel’s EIGHTH Halloween. I thought I’d take a trip down memory lane and share the last 7 years of Halloween in our household!

teagiveawayWhen the weather gets a bit cooler I find myself reaching for a cup of tea – or a ‘cuppa’ for my British friends – more often. There’s nothing better than cuddling on the sofa, watching one of my favourite shows (Downton Abbey, anyone?), pulling up a blanket and sipping some tea.  View Post

Oktoberfest in Leavenworth

A Bavarian-style village that serves huge beers, tons of bratwurst with sauerkraut, and is surrounded by mountains, rivers and forests – Leavenworth is a little slice of heaven. We had such  great time there with the family, we explored, ate, drank, and were merry – Jay even snuck in a mountain bike ride! Below is the view from our hotel room at the Icicle Resort – waking up to that every day made me smile. View Post

eurp_0911_04_o+leavenworth_drive+welcome_signAs you’re reading this I am on the road with Jay & the family to Leavenworth, Washington! We’ve been wanting to check out this little Bavarian town for some time, and decided that there’s no better time to do so than for Oktoberfest! The drive takes about five hours and then we’re gone for 4 days… eating sausage, drinking beer, and watching stars in the hot tub at night.

If you want to follow along on my trip, I’ll be posting on instagram and tweeting about it 🙂

Leavenworth1Today I’m also being featured as a sponsor on Créatrice Mondial, so if you’re stopping in from there today – hello darlings! If it’s your first time here you may also want to read about Our Home Build, my attempts in minimalism and Living with Less, and my struggles with motivation and losing weight.

When Jay and I discuss our kitchen design, we know what we want. We want matte white lacquer cabinets with no handles. We want white corian counter tops. We want all the appliances integrated so it doesn’t look like a kitchen. That’s right, we want a kitchen that doesn’t look like a kitchen.

verve-kitchen-sliding-top-75741-1900At the latest Interior Design Show (IDSwest) in Vancouver, we became obsessed with the idea of sliding counter tops, hidden sinks with retractable faucets and integrated convection cook tops.  View Post

Yesterday J & I celebrated our 10 year anniversary. 10 years since *I* asked him to be my boyfriend, in the middle of the dance floor in a club, to Robbie Rivera’s “Girlfriend”. That night I had my extensions in, and while dancing I ripped out his newly pierced diamond nose ring with my hair. That was the last of his nose ring, but my extensions lived on for some time!
