Five years ago, I took a trip from Toronto to Vancouver and never looked back! Actually, our move across the country wasn’t dramatic at all, but I moved away from my parents and sister, the only family I really had as all my other relatives live in Europe. When I was pregnant with Baby #2, I really missed my mom’s home cooking and my parents’ cozy home. I wanted to share every moment of my son’s birth with my family, but newborn’s keep you busy!
I’m so lucky I got to try the Timewyse Life Locket App, which allows me to capture my children’s memories in a safe space, and share them with family, online and easily. Do you live far away from family? It can be tough to share fun pictures and moments with them sometimes.
The NixPlay Wifi Digital Frame works with the Life Locket App, and puts the pictures I take of my kids and allows my parents back home to simply and easily see them on a slideshow right on the frame! My parents love walking into the room, having the frame automatically turn on, and show brand new pictures of their grandchildren on the frame! View Post
Imagine this: It’s a Saturday in December and the mall is bustling with holiday shoppers. You have a shopping list that’s about a mile long, but thankfully, your husband and kids are there to help (right…!). The parking lot is jam packed, but instead of searching for that lone parking spot in a sea of vehicles, you simply drive up to the mall’s entrance and use the complimentary valet service to park your vehicle.
You stop at the RBC Avion Holiday Boutique to drop off your family’s coats, and your Christmas shopping begins! A sweater for grandpa, candles for your sister, and a few teacher’s gifts later, you quickly acquire a few handfuls of shopping bags. The hubby looks bored and the kids start to whine – it’s time for a break at the RBC Avion VIP lounge!
While the gift’s are being wrapped by the Avion professionals, the Café provides you and your hubby with a quick and complimentary caffeine pick-me-up, and a couple of marshmallow-topped hot chocolates for the kids. Your husband finds a comfy spot to watch the game on a flat screen tv, while the kids are occupied with holiday-themed books and a borrowed iPad. You decide to do some secret shopping for the family, and ask the concierge for some quick tips on where to find the last few items on your list.
The shopping is done and you indulge in a chocolate chip shortbread cookie, while the gift wrapping service finishes up the last few presents. Think this scenario is too good to be true? Not with the RBC Avion Holiday Boutique! View Post
It was one fabulous party at Disney On Ice ‘Let’s Celebrate!’ in Vancouver – Mickey, Minnie, and the whole gang partied it up with an all-star Disney line-up! The quality of the ice skating was outstanding, with lots of artistry and acrobatics throughout the performance, and the show really catered to the kids by having the characters interact with them from beginning to end.
My family and I loved watching the show, and both my two-year old and eight-year old found it very entertaining. While my two-year old sat there in awe with his mouth agape, clapping occasionally and pointing out Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse, my eight-year old exclaimed in wonder at the incredible set changes, pointing out her favourite characters, and getting really into the storyline. The show starts with a birthday party, but after discovering it wasn’t anyone’s actual birthday, it quickly turned into a very happy ‘un-birthday’ party – complete with an ice-skating version of musical chairs!
Many of Disney’s favourite characters pop up throughout the show: Pinnochio shows up during the birthday party, the scariest Disney villains party it up on Halloween, we see Mulan, Aladdin & Jasmine, Mowgli, the Mad Hatter, Lilo & Stitch, Princess Tiana and all the classic princesses and their princes ice skate to their love songs. There’s even a great rendition of the famous scene from Fantasia with Mickey Mouse, the Sorcerer, and the brooms. View Post
There are certain Christmas traditions that our family looks forward to every year. An advent calendar is always exciting and our kids have a Lego Advent Calendar each December. We also do our favourite (and less creepy!) elf on the shelf, Christopher Pop-in-Kins. We read the book on the last night of November, and then each morning we run around the house searching for the elf until Christmas Eve when he heads back up to the North Pole!
The personalized video messages from the Portable North Pole are quickly becoming one of the most memorable holiday experiences for my family. Each year, Santa sends a unique video message to the kids, complete with pictures, fun scenarios, silly elves, and even reindeer! The personalized videos remind the children that Santa is on his way, that he’s been watching their behaviour this year, and he let’s them know if they’re on the naughty or nice list!
It’s hard to describe just how magical these videos are for the children. Watching Santa speaking right to them, using their name and knowing how old they are, it creates a sense of wonderment and awe, and really brings magic to Christmas. You can feel their sense of anticipation, waiting to know if they’ve been naughty or nice! It’s super easy to make these video messages, and the best part? They’re free! Let me show you how you can make your own message from Santa! View Post
Christmas shopping can be hectic and stressful – and can really suck the holiday spirit out of you. From choosing the right present to finding the best deal, the new YP Shopwise app puts the fun back into gift finding and giving!
I confess that I’m an avid online shopper, but shipping and handling costs easily skyrocket this time of year, and I try to find the best local deals on my Christmas gift list. Shopping locally not only helps local businesses, but also ensures my presents will be given on time!
Not sure what to give? The new Gift Finder on the YP Shopwise app is here to help! Shopping for men can be difficult at any time of year, especially when they already have everything they need! Socks can be such a dull gift… so I gave the Gift Finder a spin to see what cool gift they would recommend for my hard-to-shop-for guy! View Post
I love that my daughter is a huge fan of My Little Pony, because when I was a little girl, I loved My Little Pony, too! Although the ponies have gotten a makeover (love that, too!) since the original series, the new series is full of fun, friendship, and pony magic! Here are some of my favourite Christmas gifts that would be perfect for any My Little Pony fan!
My Little Pony: Equestria Girls – Rainbow Rocks
This all new feature-length film brings the battle of the bands into Equestria! The Rainbooms are up against the Dazzlings for Best Band at Canterlot High, and they need Princess Twilight’s help save the school! We received a copy of this movie from the awesome team at Shout! Factory for review, and we watched it with my daughter’s two best friends, who are also My Little Pony lovers – the verdict? They all loved it! I think it’s a perfect gift for the My Little Pony lover in your life!
POP My Little Pony Vinyl Figures
These collectible figurines from POP! are cute and trendy right now, and I’m glad they’ve created these awesome My Little Pony collectibles! I think these are great to decorate a room or a locker, and super awesome for fans of any age! View Post
