Build-A-Bear has played a large role in my daughter’s life from the time she’s been a little baby girl. She received her first bear from her babysitter when she was less than 2 years old, a reindeer named ‘Moose‘, with Christmas lights on its’ antlers that flashed red and green. Since then, she’s amassed quite a collection of bears, some of her favourites include a Dashchund named ‘Hot Dog’ with roller skates, a multi-coloured bunny named ‘Skittles’, a dragon named ‘Toothless’, and an awesome grey bear named ‘Rocker’, with flames on his feet and a snowboard in his hands (paws?).
So when Build-A-Bear and Mom It Forward asked me to share the new Honey Girls with my readers (that’s you fabulous folks!), I jumped at the chance and was super exited to show my daughter just how awesome these new bears are!
The Honey Girls are Teegan, Risa, and Viv, who met at school and formed their own band. Each one has her own strengths and talents that help the friends “be brighter together”. I adore the positive messages that the Honey Girls bring, especially to school-aged girls trying to maneuver friendships at this sometimes difficult age! The Honey Girls show that being yourself is super important.
Teegan is fearless and bold, and the lead singer of the group. Risa is the guitarist, and she’s all about music and being creative. And Viv (my favourite!), is the drummer and also a talented inventor! The Honey Girls story goes beyond the tale of a music band as it embraces the importance of leveraging each other’s strengths and talents.
What’s really cool about the Honey Girls bears is that each one comes with their own original song. Children can customize their favourite character with a special plush star, which represents an aspirational trait such as being creative, confident, talented, smart, fearless, and strong. The Honey Girls were designed to encourage kids to find their passions and overcome obstacles in their way, by instilling a sense of confidence and inspiring self-expression.
My daughter can’t wait for the Honey Girls Studio App that will be available for download on iTunes & Google Play in July! The app will allow access to biographies, music videos, a music video maker and selfie activity, as well as memory games and the ability to unlock special features. As soon as it comes out it’s going straight on my daughter’s iPod!
The Honey Girls will be available for purchase online starting July 8th, and in-store at Build-A-Bear Workshops starting July 10th, 2015. Each character retails for $28, outfits and accessories sold separately. Each of the Honey Girls travel in a specially designed condo that converts into a stage for at-home performances!
