It was one fabulous party at Disney On Ice ‘Let’s Celebrate!’ in Vancouver – Mickey, Minnie, and the whole gang partied it up with an all-star Disney line-up! The quality of the ice skating was outstanding, with lots of artistry and acrobatics throughout the performance, and the show really catered to the kids by having the characters interact with them from beginning to end.

My family and I loved watching the show, and both my two-year old and eight-year old found it very entertaining. While my two-year old sat there in awe with his mouth agape, clapping occasionally and pointing out Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse, my eight-year old exclaimed in wonder at the incredible set changes, pointing out her favourite characters, and getting really into the storyline. The show starts with a birthday party, but after discovering it wasn’t anyone’s actual birthday, it quickly turned into a very happy ‘un-birthday’ party – complete with an ice-skating version of musical chairs!

Many of Disney’s favourite characters pop up throughout the show: Pinnochio shows up during the birthday party, the scariest Disney villains party it up on Halloween, we see Mulan, Aladdin & Jasmine, Mowgli, the Mad Hatter, Lilo & Stitch, Princess Tiana and all the classic princesses and their princes ice skate to their love songs. There’s even a great rendition of the famous scene from Fantasia with Mickey Mouse, the Sorcerer, and the brooms. View Post

Do your kids love Mickey Mouse? My son adores him – his brown eyes light up when he sees him on screen, and his Mickey Mouse plush toy tags along with us everywhere we go! I can’t wait for him to experience Disney on Ice and see Mickey Mouse, along with Minnie, Donald, Pluto, and the rest of the gang!

The Burrard Hotel Vancouver

The Burrard Hotel in downtown Vancouver, BC, has a unique and retro feeling to it, fitting since it first opened its’ doors in 1956 as the Burrard Motor Inn. Since then, they’ve done a massive renovation on the whole building, inside and out. While the hotel has been updated with modern amenities, they kept the mid-century modern character which keeps this boutique hotel an original choice.

Checking into the hotel was super easy and quick, the front desk was knowledgable and gave me all the information I needed to know about where to park and where my room was. Jay & I stayed on the fourth floor with our room looking into the lush courtyard of the hotel. It felt a bit like walking into a time warp, the carpet lining the walkways was astroturf, and the colour scheme screamed retro.  View Post

IDS West Design Show

I look forward to the Interior Design Show every year and have been going since I was a young twenty-something in Toronto, trying to design our first home. Much has changed since then, in my own life and in the design world, but I can always be sure to find something that just about blows my mind at IDSwest.

The 10th anniversary of the IDSWest did NOT disappoint, there was so much to take in, a pleasant assault on the senses if you will – every booth was more intriguing than the last, each one offering something beautiful to see, something incredible to feel and touch, and the bar never lets me down with their selection of craft beers and Prosecco to taste! I was delighted when asked to be a Blog Ambassador for the third annual Leading Moms conference, but I wasn’t sure what to expect or how powerful an experience it would be. Every speaker was more inspiring than the last, and each of them brought their own important message to the forefront.

There were discussions on balancing our work-kids-mom lives, helping others, raising our children with knowledge, and personal life stories that were sometimes funny, and sometimes heart wrenching. View Post
