Design Inspiration: Modern Landscaping

The hot summer days make me yearn for a lush oasis to spend my days in, and a magical, private garden to entertain in at night. I am constantly being drawn to clean lines, minimal landscapes with tall bamboo plants, water features, and rock gardens. While I personally do not have a green thumb, and consequently do not want to spend long hours tending to a garden, I prefer low-maintenance gardens. No grass to mow, and instead have wild grasses and bushes that can grow freely and with minimal upkeep.

We are currently trying to design our own private little oasis, and we are trying to incorporate different elements in a simple and cohesive way. A water feature will add a sense of tranquility, a fire pit to cuddle around, comfortable seating with removable cushions, and plants that are indigenous to the area will ensure that they will thrive with minimal upkeep. Do you prefer gardens and outdoor spaces with lush lawns and pretty flowers, or do you prefer more streamlined, modern courtyards?

Could you live here?

My favorite is the the bottom one. That modern running brooke is so cool! Is it metal? I bet the patina on it is beautiful.
