Home Office Reveal

Modern Home Office Reveal

I am very excited to share my new home office with you. I have been waiting for a space to call my own for years and am so delighted with the way it turned out!

I spent months poring over home office inspiration, and I was so undecided about whether I wanted to spend a lot of money on a desk or if I should just buy something inexpensive. In the end my wallet won, and a trip to Ikea later, I had most of my home office ready to be put together!

I knew I wanted a clean, white space, a large enough desk to be able to write on as well as hold the computer, and a minimal amount of storage that worked for me. Jay was quite concerned about storage for some reason, so I compromised by using two large white bins that were large enough to hold file folders for work. This way I got the clean looking desk I was after, and he had his storage solution.

I also got a little head in this picture. It stays.

It was love at first sight when I first spotted these minimal trestle legs, and I knew I had to have them. The glossy white table top adds a hint of glamour and sparkle, while still being modern. I think the look came together rather well, all white with bits of silver metal.

I put a picture rail above the desk, however I still have to get some art! It’s not quite the way I pictured it, however it suits its’ purpose by being a magazine and book rack. I hung two containers from the picture rail, one holds pens while the other one holds a living plant. It’s still alive after two weeks of being ignored. Maybe I’ll start talking to it to ensure its’ survival?

This steel chair is another ‘must-have’ piece for me! The gun-metal chair is the perfect accent piece to this home office by giving it a bit of added edge. It adds a bit of character to the all-white ensemble, but still keeps it monotone. The chair is made by Zuo and can be found at Staples!

I’m still on the look out for some sort of hanging art to place above the picture rail, and the accessories might be swapped out in the future, but for now I really like the magazines as art look. I know this look isn’t for everyone, but I can’t help be obsessed with all the white – it makes a modern space so peaceful to me!

  1. I’m fascinated right now with all the high-end looks people manage to put together from affordable pieces at Ikea. Maybe it’s because I’m on a budget and I have to furnish a two-bedroom apartment!!! In any case, I love what you did, particularly with the desk. It looks like a custom piece of furniture! Thanks for sharing on Hump Day Happenings : )

  2. What a great space to let your creative juices flow! I’m really wanting to do an office makeover of my own and you’ve inspired me to get going on it! Thanks so much for sharing this at the Frugal Crafty Home Blog Hop! I’ll be pinning this to the FCHBH link ups board!

  3. The pyramid is really a lot larger at the bottom, so there’s room for a lot more and more people, but at the top there
is certainly only room for one. Mega sites, on the other hand, are
fantastic for Ad – Sense. Another drawback is
the method in which IT developers communicate with these new databases
is via modern programming languages like Java, Python, and Perl.

  4. Workspace Goals!! It looks amazing, you’ve done a fab job.

Inspired me to try the trestle legs on my new desk I’m ordering! Just wondered those boxes you have on the trestles, do they fit under the bar, if you were to put them on the floor? I’m thinking of copying you and getting these boxes for some extra storage! But wondered if they fit under the legs! Would super appreciate your feedback on this! Thanks so much! x

    1. Hi Zoe! Yes, the boxes (which are also from Ikea) fit on the trestle or directly under the legs (I’ve done both!). Good luck!
