When You Struggle With Positivity

be the type of person you want to meet

Recently I’ve noticed that I’ve been struggling with positivity, especially in simple day-to-day moments. Times where there is no need to be negative, no need to harp or criticize or whine – yet I find myself doing it, more and more often.

I’m struggling to find the happiness in little things. I’m having a hard time being thankful for life and all that it brings.

I found this quote a long time ago, and though it’s not the most eloquent of quotes, it gets right to the point.

“Be the type of person you want to meet”

People are naturally attracted to the light. To bright and happy people – you would rather approach the smiling Starbucks barista than the one who’s scowling and complaining.

I need to try and remember this when I’m being grumpy – which seems to be all the time, as of late. Perhaps I should tattoo it on my wrist as a reminder to smile?

What do you do when you’re struggling with positivity?

  1. You are not alone in this! I definitely have to remind myself to be positive from time to time.
Great quote…I will definitely refer to it 🙂

  2. I’m having some issues with that lately as well. I really believe that it’s the weather. We’re all going crazy with this terrible winter and no fresh air is not good for the body or soul. 🙁

    1. That’s so true, I always forget how much the weather affects our well-being! Especially where I live, we can go 3 or 4 weeks without a day of sunlight (or so it seems!) – Vitamin D?

  3. I love that quote:)
I make myself see the positive in EVERY situation. No matter how small, there is a positive in everything. My friends all tease me because my glass is always brimming over full ha ha;)

    1. That’s a really good quality to have though, I’ve been finding it more and more difficult to force a smile on my face, but when I do, I’m so much better for it!

  4. I struggle a lot with being positive. I use to be a happy person, I don’t know what went wrong. I have been through a lot this past year and I realized how I wasn’t happy with myself and now I am working on it to turn “this frown upside”!

What helps me is to think that it takes more energy to be negative. Being positive is such a good feeling and when you surround yourself with positive people and positive thoughts, life just becomes easier to get through, easier to handle tough situations and easier to communicate with people. Honestly, life is too short to live with negativity!

    1. I totally understand not knowing where it went wrong – I used to be so happy-go-lucky, maybe I just didn’t let things bother me so much, maybe it’s part of growing up?
I agree, it’s SO much easier on your health to be positive, negativity is draining in that aspect.
