How to Survive Wedding Season

Five years ago today, we got married in front of our closest family and friends. Our unconventional love was celebrated at the Opus Hotel in Vancouver, and we had delicious food, great music, and a super fun time. As a certified wedding planner, I was experienced with planning weddings of up to 1200 people without even breaking a sweat – for other couples. When it came to planning my own wedding, it quickly became stressful…

May is the official start of Wedding Season, that lovely time of year where everyone you know decides to get married meaning an overwhelming amount of bridal showers, bachelorette parties, and weddings that are scattered from one end of the world to the other. Whether you’re the one getting married (congrats!), apart of the wedding party, or wonderful guest, the thought of cramming multiple weddings, and the prep that goes with them, into your already overflowing schedule can seem impossible.

So how do you stay looking and feeling your best before, during, and after the big day? How do you stay feeling confident and fresh without allowing the stress to weigh you down? My beauty routine is pared down and as simple as it can get, and I do most everything myself – like waxing, pedicures, eyebrows – for time management purposes… although it is nice to get a pedicure once in a while? Waxing at home saved me time by removing unwanted hair for up to 4 weeks, which meant I didn’t have to shave each day! I recommend NairTM Wax Ready-Strips because they’re easy, don’t need a microwave, and work amazing!

Take some down time in a quiet room – especially if you have young children. Grab some snacks and lots of water, and just chill out – whether in a quiet room or in a space outdoors, somewhere you can just be you. During this time you could also freshen up, fix your hair, and brush your teeth – yes, brush your teeth! Fresh breath always makes me feel more confident and more willing to smile once I know there’s nothing in my teeth. Always have a small tube of toothpaste in your beauty bag! Arm & HammerTM Truly RadiantTM Clean & Fresh toothpaste is clinically proven to whiten your teeth in five days, deep cleans and provides long-lasting freshness with a cool surge of spearmint, you’ll love! It fits perfectly into your daily routine!

At the end of the night, you will be tired – and maybe a bit relieved! You’ll be feeling the effects of standing, dancing, and the lack of sleep the next morning… try and sleep in the day after a wedding, take it easy, eat nourishing foods, drink lots of water and wear comfy shoes to prepare for the next wedding!

What’s your secret for making it through wedding season?
